LAHORE: AIESEC, an organisation created in order to nurture a youth possessing leadership qualities is ready to bring an event that will set the patriotic youth on tenterhooks. Since one of its ambitions is to bring peace, it is endeavoring to attain it this time by bringing people from different nations together and acquainting them with each other’s culture, for inculcating acceptance is the best way to spread peace and love. To take place in August this year by the name of National Global Village is a collective effort of a large number of Pakistani students who are bent upon changing the mindsets of people inveigled into believing that Pakistan has mostly negative aspects associated to its culture or is a nation spreading intolerance. Here is a little information to keep everyone in high spirits till the date of the event arrives! In store is an international cuisine for us to taste the food of more than five different cultures and find out what lies beyond the traditional spicy dishes of the sub-continent. While foreigners may love our spice filled Biryanis or Karahis, we may fall for the sweet Chinese broths. In order to get to know about the difference in various nations’ arts, there will be music demanding the participants to sing songs purely indigenous to their nation so that we may be introduced to the literature of that nation in the form of its poetry and to its arts in the form of its music. What else! A cultural dress exhibition too, is around the corner for youngsters to observe the dressing styles prevalent in different corners of the world. This is, I must say, an important step towards tolerance, for currently, dressing has started creating a lot of differences among people. Through this exhibition, we will be able to accept people as they are, and as their culture demands them to be. The best part is a chance for comparative analysis, since young interns from all over the world will be there to communicate with each other, ask questions, give answers, and learn. The beauty of the event lies in the apt choice of the location for the occasion to take place, for it is going to be the Punjabi Complex of Gaddafi Stadium, the purpose of the creation of which was to promote regional languages, arts and culture. This is going to be a treat for the ones who hold in their hearts, veneration for arts and culture. Isn’t it all worth waiting for? While Jules Verne made us roam around the world in eighty days, AIESEC’s National Global Village is all set to do it in one day. So let’s start preparing ourselves for the 7th of August, 2016. What if there are still a few days left? We can spend a good time in the reverie of meeting people new to us, or eating food alien to us. Hoping to see all young Pakistanis there!
