After parents, we encounter teachers as the most influential people, who try to develop and groom young minds from primary school to the University through teaching and allied activities. They are considered as role model who have pain for the people around them and they devote their time for raising knowledge of the students, motivating them to excel in their area of interest, and inspiring them to be good human beings. Their caring and encouraging behavior helps students to learn life skills and earn qualifications of their choice to secure a job or establish business which ultimately help them to get rid of poverty and ignorance. Teachers on the other side feel satisfied when their students achieve success due to their sincere teaching and counseling efforts. The above ideal process of teaching and learning is only possible if institutions have an enabling environment and administration is always there to facilitate both students and teachers. The existing situation of educational institutions right from primary to higher level is mix of all different good or bad facilitations. Most of the times our village schools and some metropolitan institutions are lacking basic facilities in terms of class rooms, teaching aids, furniture and such other relevant facilities. The selective approach of heads in respective institution for facilitating some teachers in selection of subjects, classes and leave matters results as a demotivation to dedicated teachers who are given no choice in these matters. After observing such behavior over the time, some of the teachers develop negative attitude which ultimately affects the teaching quality. In some cases, the administration of the institutions ispressurized to facilitate some dear ones of hire ups or friends for such matters. There may be other factors which are compelling them to facilitate few while adopt bureaucratic approach for others. One of these is inclusion of name of seniors in research papers, book chapters and other publications. Those who don’t include will face the music through odd type of orders during the year. It is further observed that those who are facilitated will make fun of others who are performing their job sincerely. This type of behavior divides the institutional strength which is required for achieving vision and mission of the institutions. Most of the times, two clear groups are formed which disturbs the academic and research environment. As, teachers are playing a pivotal role in whole ecosystem of teaching and research; therefore, institutions are required to make arrangements for their career growth. They are also expected to take care of other needs like housing, medical and education of their children Almost same situation is faced by the students in class, those who are near to teacher will be in separate category while who are working hard are considered old fashioned people. The communication skill of some student’s in terms of speaking English with English accent is considered more important than what is being reported. The teachers who try to support minority of hardworking students will be labeled as 19th century stuff by some students. Resultantly, an academic class is divided into the different type of social classes which already exist in our society. Even such behavior is observed in Mosques as well these days where we expect to be same creature of one creator. Apart from that allocation of resources like transport, hostel and other facilities are given to those students who have approach to the higher ups. Under such environment common student feel depressed and his focus on primary task of learning is disturbed. These all situations are result of bad governance at educational institutions. The institutions are to be governed under some law which is Charter in case of the University. The Universities are required to establish academic and administrative departments as per Charter with defined duties for which they are accountable to some statutory structure like Syndicate or Board of Governors (BoG). The structures in terms of departments are further desired to initiate processes pertaining to teaching and support to teaching at the time start of the every academic year, examination and conclusion of the same. The sequence of events should be as per defined rules and regulations. The administration of the institutions should focus on justice, equity, accountability and quality way of performing all processes under the law. All activities need to be planned carefully, keeping in view the possible scenarios in consultation with teachers and those who are involved in that process. Self-assessment of all such academic and administrative activities at the end of academic year shall help in identifying areas for further improvement. The continuous improvement in whole eco-system of teaching and research will bring institutions to higher level in terms of quality of teaching and research. As, teachersare playing a pivotal role in whole ecosystem of teaching and research; therefore, institutions are required to make arrangements for their career growth. They are also expected to take care of other needs like housing, medical and education of their children. Though, it cannot be possible without theircontribution and collectively it can be achieved over the years. There is a rapid change in different fields of study and course content is required to be updated on regular basis. Similarly, different accreditation bodies are emphasizing on continuous professional development thereforeit is responsibility of the institution to facilitate their academic staff to join such workshops and seminars on regular basis. Teachers should be given proper offices, computers and other teaching aids for preparing lectures and for providing guidance to the students in specific hours of counseling. In the same manner it is also expected that institution will sponsor their research at different forums. Remember, teachers will perform best in teaching and research if they are given respect in our institutions and society. Also, if we are at some better place and doing good job or business, then it is all due to the efforts of teachers who encouraged, motivated and supported us at different stages of learning.
