PESHAWAR: Parents of the students who appeared in the entrance test for medical and dental colleges on July 24 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressed their serious concern over leakage of paper from inside the examination halls and demanded the authorities to re-conduct the test. The entrance test papers for admissions to various public and private sector medical and dental colleges of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) had been leaked from inside the examination centers during the test hours. The leaked paper, a copy of which is also available with Daily Times, went viral on Whatsapp and other social media platforms soon after the test was started. The paper leakage has created an atmosphere of uncertainty among the students and their parents. Some of the parents demanded the authorities concerned to re-conduct the test while others whose children scored high in the test opposed it. One Suleman Khan told this reporter that his son had been a position holder throughout his academic career but he could only score 133 out of 800 marks in entrance test. It should be mentioned here that the test was topped by a student securing 691 marks. The worried father said that it would be injustice with other students if some students leaked the papers and got high marks illegally. He demanded of the authorities to investigate the matter and if some students got high marks through illegal means, he saidthe test should be reorganised for the students. Another father criticised the whole system of Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency and said that due to mismanagement the paper was leaked inside the hall. He demanded Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government to take action against the concerned authority and look into matter and reorganise the test for the future of the students. Talking to Daily Times, ETEA Administrative Manager Shakil Mufti, said entrance test examination was held and the authority has full confidence that all the news regarding leakage of paper were baseless and aimed at spreading false rumors. He said that a meeting was held on Thursday in which the whole team of ETEA discussed the matter and each and every pro and con of the matter was discussed painstakingly and finally it was decided that ETA test for medical and dental college’s admission would not be conducted for the second time. He said that one student who was involved in taking pictures from his question sheet was apprehended on the spot and his phone was confiscated by police and he had been arrested. If a student leaks a question sheet from inside the examination hall, it does not mean he had leaked the whole paper. Each student had a separate question paper, and the possibility of leaking the examination paper was very low.. The test was conducted at five centres across the province including Islamia Collegiate ground and Khyber Medical College ground in Peshawar, Ayub Medical College in Abbotabad, Grassy Ground in Swat and Wensam College DI Khan.
