ISLAMABAD: Stunning revelations have come to light in social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch’s murder case, as sources on Saturday revealed that she was allegedly connected with bookies in Dubai and blackmailed the cricket players through selfies and videos at the behest of bookies and extorted money from them. Well-placed sources told Daily Times that social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch had allegedly forged nexus with Dubai-based bookies, which remained one of her major sources of income. Souces said Qandeel used to develop connections with leading sportsmen and other VIPs, adding that she made selfies and videos with sportsmen and celebrities, and later demanded huge amounts of money from them through blackmailing. These sportsmen and other targets were threatened of making public their selfies and videos with her in the event of non-acceptance of her demands. Mufti Abdul Qavi’s incident was the best example in this regard with whom she made selfies and videos. Sources said that some renowned members of Pakistan Cricket Team and celebrities were being blackmailed by Qandeel Baloch, while many among them were fulfilling her demand of paying handsome money in the face of repeated threats. They were accepting her demands to avoid any utterances from her aimed at defaming them. It is pertinent to mention that late Qandeel Baloch, who had earned fame through social media, was neither any actress nor any singer, and she had not done modeling for any ad either. She had no career in show business, however her sources of income remain a mystery. The police tried to trace her source of income after her murder and found that Qandeel Baloch used to receive money in abundance after every few days. In the light of these disclosures, police have decided to broaden the scope of its investigation, which so far has included the family members of Qandeel Baloch while one of her cousins, who is currently living in Dubai, was also likely to be made part of the investigation.
