Spokesperson for Sindh Government and Advisor for Law, Environment & Coastal Development Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that those who oppose the new district of Keamari in Karachi are the ones who have divided Hyderabad into four districts. It was acceptable for them to tear apart the city but the problems of the citizens of Karachi are being solved on their doorstep. They are finding it annoying. The people responsible for the civic problems in the mega city Karachi are the ones who misused the immense powers in the past. He said in an informal conversation with media persons in his Office that in the past, the claimants of this city had misused their powers and had commercialized the main highways of the city. He said that the solution to Karachi’s problems is not in having a multiple chairman / mayor but in appointing a boss. He said that the PPP cures the civic bodies However, their non-discriminatory accountability is also imperative. The city of more than 30 million people controls barely 40% of the city. The rest is controlled by federal agencies and cantonments, but unfortunately in some parts of the city When issues arise, the blame is shifted to the Sindh government, KMC or DMCs which is based on utter injustice and malice. He said that there are seventeen agencies in the city which own the land of this city. The most important road of the city, Shahra-e-Faisal, is mostly owned by cantonments. Federal Railways has set up societies on Shahra-e-Faisal where hundreds of buildings have been constructed. He said that unfortunately in the past the city and its people were oppressed and the roads here were commercialized which resulted in a small plot of land. A ten-storey building was constructed across the city from these areas. Barrister Murtaza Wahab said in response to a question that the settlement of hundreds of people in a ten-storey building on a family plot had created problems in the drainage system of the city. Institutions were destroyed. Only five and a half thousand people were recruited in the Water Board. The infrastructure of this institution was destroyed. Fake recruitments were made by reckless use of powers. Instead of increasing revenue, expenses were increased. Who knows who is responsible for this catastrophe? Responding to a question from DA, MDE, SBCA (then KBCA) and other agencies, he said that DHA is a covered area of Karachi but in the rains there There is no Sindh government or KMC government. Why the question does not go there? Responding to a question about the accumulation of rainwater in Central District. He alsosaid that it was made a district under the best plan of Karachi. Its roads were wide but a poor plan in a federal transport project in the district. Residents are suffering the consequences of the closure. In many places, green line projects and flyover pliers have been constructed in storm drains, which has obstructed the flow of water in these drains, causing water to flow on the roads instead of drains. Citizens faced immense difficulties and the Sindh government faced criticism. He added that coordination between the federal and provincial governments was urgently needed to address such issues, for which a coordination committee has been formed to address the city’s civic issues. The problems of the citizens can be solved by solving them. He said that the federal government has to show seriousness in solving the problems of the city. PPP Sindh government is serious in solving the problems of this city. Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah is considering long lasting measures for permanent solution of the problems of Karachi. One of the major problems faced by the citizens during rains is encroachment on drains. There are plans to remove it, but alternative arrangements must be made for the people living there, for which consideration is being given.
