LAHORE: Two people, including a retired government employee, committed suicide in different areas of the city on Wednesday. A 70-year-old retired government official, identified as Muhammad Aslam, shot himself in his house. The deceased was a father of four and a resident of Iqbal Town. According to the police and rescue officials, the family members reached the spot upon being informed and found his body lying in a pool of blood on the courtyard floor. They took him to a local hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police recovered a pistol on the spot and sent it to the forensic lab for further investigations. Police said that the actual cause of death could only be ascertained after the postmortem report. In another incident, a 20-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan in Sherakot police station area. The deceased, identified as Hassan Raza of Sherakot, locked himself in a room over an unknown issue and hanged himself. Upon being informed, the family members broke the door and took him to a local hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Police said that the incident seemed as a suicide case initially, however, the actual cause of death would be cleared after the postmortem report. The body was later shifted to the city mortuary for autopsy. Moreover, at least four people committed suicide while two got killed in road accidents during the last few days in Lahore. Muhammad Imran, a resident of Ichra, was riding a motorbike when a rashly driven car crushed him to death near Qurtaba Chowk, Mozang. The car driver managed to escape the crime scene and the police have handed over the dead body to his heirs. Sana, a 16-year-old girl from Sahiwal, was killed by a speedy bus in Manga Mandi area. Police said that the girl was on her way along with two of her relatives on a motorbike when a speeding bus hit them on Multan Road. As a result, all three persons received multiple injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where Sana succumbed to injuries while the others survived. The police handed over the body to her family members after fulfilling legal formalities.
