LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Tehreek Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri has demanded action against the National Assembly speaker for not showing any interest and allowing members to speak against the institutions of national security on the floor of the House. The PAT chief, while addressing an Ulema conference on Wednesday, said a dangerous and criminal conspiracy was being hatched to divide the nation on the Quetta blast. He said that the speaker was acting according to the wishes of the prime minister, which proved that all his actions were in favour of the ruling party and his neutrality was under question. He said that those who were trying to nullify the gains of Operation Zarb-e-Azb were speaking the language of the prime minister and the ruling party. He alleged that the PML-N has been defying the National Action Plan ever since it was approved 17 months ago. Qadri said that the interior minister spelled out shortcomings of the intelligence agencies in his speech in the National Assembly and repeated the worn-out words of his leader Nawaz Sharif. He deplored that in a country where the interior minister was not on speaking terms with the defense minister and where there was no foreign minister, how can that country come out of crisis? He said that the National Assembly speaker was quick to write to PEMRA for action against those speaking against the national security institution, but failed to act when the interior minister slammed the same army on the floor of the House. The religious scholar also asked why the speaker remained silent and did not ban the reporting by media. He said that the NAP was approved unanimously by all the political parties of the country but the civil institutions utterly failed to implement any of its part, whereas the Pakistan Army acted on 98 percent of it. The PAT chairman asked who was responsible for the non-implementation of NAP and what were the reasons that media and nation were being targeted over and over again? He said that the rulers have not changed their attitude even after several such incidents of terrorism, which has caused deaths of hundreds of innocent people. Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif laid stress on seamless coordination among law enforcement agencies as well as provincial governments and federal government to achieve optimum results of war on terror. He had said the government would take every possible step to make sure that the blood spilt in Quetta does not go waste. Meanwhile, PML-N MPA Hina Butt submitted a condemnation resolution was in the Punjab Assembly’s notice branch on Tuesday. She expressed grief over the loss of lives in Quetta and termed the incident as ‘worst form of barbarianism’. She urged the intelligence and law enforcement agencies to take strict action against terrorists and their facilitators, as the nation as has had enough of seeing dead bodies. On a query, she called for efficient implementation of National Action Plan, adding that the government would ensure that every individual gets benefit from a secure, stable and prosperous Pakistan.
