ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has announced it will observe complete strikes from the courts throughout the country protesting the lack of interest shown by the government in apprehending the culprits of the Quetta Attack. The tragic incident of 8th August at Quetta left more than 76 dead, including 54 lawyers and Balochistan Bar’s office bearers. After that, the PBC had demanded of the government to apprehend the terrorists with the ultimatum of massive protest in case of failure to meet their demands. However, so far the federal and provincial governments have failed in not only taking the culprits to account and assigning responsibility on the delinquents but also in provision of security arrangements at all Districts and High Courts level throughout Pakistan on the same footing as the National Action Plan. In a press statement issued on Friday, the council said that Lawyers from across the country will observe Strike on August 22(Monday). The council further decided to hold a Protest Demonstration before the Parliament House to lodge their protest against the Quetta Carnage and press for their demands including payment of monetary support to families of Martyrs and injured. The Vice-Chairmen, Chairmen, Executive Committees, Pakistan & Provincial/Islamabad Bar Councils, Presidents, High Court &District Bar Associations and other leaders of the Bar, will lead the demonstration.
