LAHORE: While announcing the schedule of his party’s protest movement, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahirul Qadri said on Sunday that people should come out of their houses and snatch power from the cruel rulers. “You cannot get rid of the system of cruelty and oppression as well as the cruel rulers by sitting at homes. Everyone should get out of their houses in unison and become voice of the oppressed,” he said while addressing a rally in Lahore. “If you kept crying by sitting in your houses, then children will continue to be kidnapped from every street.” The PAT chief said that the parliament, which badmouthed its own army, could not be called a democratic institution, adding that protests staged by PAT against incumbent government were continuing in full swing. “Preparations have been completed while the workers have started to join the rallies,” he added. According to the schedule announced by Qadri for his movement against the killings of Model Town victims, protests would be held in Multan on August 25, Gujranwala on August 27 followed by one in Rawalpindi. After that, protests would be held across Balochistan from August 29 onwards. Sources said that Qadri would announce his party’s further strategy on August 28. Earlier, Dr Tahirul Qadri said that he would not compromise on anything other than retribution, adding that he can revenge in seven days but abstained from breaking the law. He said that the protest was for the country’s security and he would not take law in hand, as it would give Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif an excuse to run away. It should be noted that during the political turmoil of June 17, 2014, at least 14 PAT workers were killed and dozens sustained injuries during their clashes with Punjab police in Model Town area of Lahore.
