LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has alleged that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was controlled by rulers, so that free and fair accountability remained impossible to achieve. He was talking to media and party delegations, led by Neelam Irshad and Sajjad Farooq from PTI Sargodha, at his office on Monday. The former governor said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) criticised PTI only to hide its incompetence. He said as many as 9,717 registered complaints against the bureaucracy in Punjab was a clear proof of corruption, adding that whenever free and fair accountability would be held in the country, the hands of people would engulf the corrupt rulers and they would be sent to the prisons. The PTI leader said accountability movement’s next phase would start from September 3 and would jolt the roots of rulers. “Imran Khan assures accountability and this movement will prove to be final nail in the coffin for corrupt rulers,” he added. Sarwar said his party was fighting the war against corruption and people were standing by Imran Khan, who would announce the future strategy in next phase. “It is beyond any doubt that Pakistan is standing on verge of change,” he added. Meanwhile, in a statement issued on Monday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Advisor Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the rulers were using their powers for looting the country and Imran Khan would soon bring change and help country get rid of corruption. She said PTI would be in power after the next general elections. She said PTI would continue raising its voice against corruption and looting of national resources at all forums, adding that incapable rulers had become burden on masses and were themselves hurdle in the solution of masses’ problems. Yasmin said Nawaz Sharif and his party showed greener pastures to the masses before coming into power but eventually they did nothing for the masses and instead bankrupted all public institutions. She said the PML-N had come into power to loot national wealth instead of working for the progress and prosperity of the country and masses. The chairman’s advisor regretted that the rulers were looting the national resources callously and no institution was able to check them. Against all these ills, she said, Imran Khan had again decided to come out on roads and fight for the cause of the country and masses.
