LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain, condemning his August 22 speech against Pakistan and its security institutions. The resolution, terming Altaf Hussain a ‘national traitor’, urged the federal government to institute a high treason case against the MQM leader for violating the constitution. The resolution, moved by Punjab Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, stated that the MQM chief was continuously spewing venom against Pakistan, which was tantamount to attack on the country’s sovereignty. “The hate-inciting speech crossed all limits and no patriotic Pakistani can tolerate such a shameful, provocative and anti-Pakistan speech,” said the resolution. The House vehemently condemned attacks on media houses and expressed utter anguish over ransacking of media houses. It also appreciated efforts of Sindh Rangers and police for peace restoration in Karachi.
