MARDAN: The suicide bomber, who hit Mardan district court on Friday, hails from Afghanistan and he reached Kachehri on foot, according to initial investigation report. According to the report, prepared by police, the suicide bomber was aged between 30 to 35 years and he hails from Afghanistan. The body parts of the attacker have been sent for DNA test, the report further says. It also says that around 6 to 8 kilograms of explosives were used in the attack. The Counter Terrorism Department has registered FIR of Mardan suicide attack against unidentified terrorists. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Jamaatul Ahrar, the Afghanistan-based splinter group of Pakistani Taliban headed by Abdul Wali aka Omar Khalid Khurasani, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack. At least 13 people, including three policemen, three lawyers and a local leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), were killed and 52 others sustained injuries in a suicide attack at the district courts in Mardan on Friday. Meanwhile, the lawyers’ fraternity of Sindh and Punjab is observing day of mourning and boycotted court proceedings against the attack.
