CHARSADDA: The local police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 11 terrorists’ facilitators, 49 suspects and 30 illegal foreigners during the month of August. The police also said that most of the arrested men were armed. Sources said that the district police carried out 30 search and strike operations last month, in which 11 alleged facilitators of terrorists, 49 suspects and 30 illegal Afghan nationals were arrested. According to official sources, as many as 1,574 educational institutions were inspected in August, of which 78 were issued notices for having faulty security arrangements. Six people were also booked under the amplifier act in the district. The police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunitions, including seven sub-machine guns, 20 shotguns, 132 handguns and 4,400 bullets. Record of at least 16,271 people was checked through the civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) system last month, official sources said. Similarly, at least 7,706 vehicles were checked through the vehicle verification system, during which three cars were impounded by the police for having been used in criminal activities or with first information reports (FIRs) registered against them. At least 4,550 computerised national identity cards were also verified during the period under review. Moreover, the dispute resolution councils in the district amicably disposed of 59 cases in August.
