KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted permission to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali to perform Hajj. A divisional bench headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi took the said decision on an application of former IGP Jamali, who requested that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has not filed reference against him yet so he may kindly be allowed to perform Hajj. Jamali produced copies of Hajj Visa and air ticket before the court and stated that he had already applied for Hajj. He stated that he is to leave for Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and would return on October 5th. Jamali also gave the reference of Fida Hussain Shah, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Finance, who is co-accused in the same case and reference has been filed against him, stating that Fida was allowed to travel abroad despite this. Counsel of NAB Farid Dayo did not object on Jamali’s application and after hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court allowed Jamali to perform Hajj. The court ordered Jamali to deposit surety money of one million rupees, while also directed authorities not to create any hurdles in Jamali’s departure. The hearing has been adjourned till October 19.
