KARACHI: Yet 147 coronavirus cases have been reported in Karachi so far. The Sindh government has completed mapping of 122 coronavirus cases out of 147 in Metropolis. There are a total of 147 coronavirus cases in the port city, of which 94 are of local transmission and 3 new cases in Karachi 1 from Dadu, 1 from Duabi, 1 from UK while 133 are under treatment. According to the map, Saddar Town is most affected, Orangi Town the least. As Saddar has the most known cases there are 47 cases in Saddar Town. After this town Gulshan-e-Iqbal has the second most number of cases with 37 in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, 12 in Nazimabad, nine each in Gulberg and Jamshed Town, eight in Malir, five in Liaquatabad, five each in Gadap and North Karachi while Orangi has one known case reported so far. The process of coronavirus-mapping and tracking the patients was initiated on the orders of CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah’s instructions. The chief minister directed the health department to share the mapping data with deputy commissioners to help them take necessary measures to contain the COVID-19 within their respective areas. Sindh needs to deal proactively tracking this local transmission which, if goes unchecked, can create a foremost health emergency which won’t be easy to tackle through dysfunctional health system. It may be noted that on Tuesday, ten more coronavirus patients recovered in Sindh, bringing the total number of the people who have recovered from COVID-19 in the Sindh province to 14.
