ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing strong opposition from political parties, especially Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), on the issue of no-confidence move against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, sources told Daily Times on Sunday. PTI sources disclosed that the NA speaker sent references against PTI chief Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Khan Tareen and made himself controversial. As a result, PTI, in first phase, considered no-confidence move against Ayaz Sadiq and seek support from PPP, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League, FATA members and Awami National Party in this regard to give tough time to the government. In the second phase, PTI had planned to move no-confidence move against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and in third phase, it wanted to resign from the parliament. Sources disclosed that these options were discussed in the PTI core committee meeting but there was no consensus, as some senior party members were not in the favour of resigning from the parliament. It is pertinent to mention that PTI could not succeed in its no-confidence move as the government enjoyed majority in the National Assembly with 215 members. “We wanted all opposition parties to stand with us,” the PTI sources added. PTI Chairman Imran Khan was informed that PPP would not stand with him on issues pertaining to Raiwind march, resignation from the parliament and no-confidence move against the prime minister and speaker, sources said. On the other hand, PPP wanted PTI to stay in the parliament. Vote of no confidence against the PM and speaker would not succeed while it would only waste precious time of the lawmakers, sources added.
