The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the Inland Revenue commissioner to decide the case of income tax notice to Shamim Sugar Mills of Nawaz Sharif within two months. LHC Justice Shahid Kareem was hearing the case of a petition filed by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif against the income tax notice to Shamim Sugar Mills as he made the Commissioner Inland Revenue and Deputy Commissioner Inland Revenue as respondents. The petitioner told the court that FBR has sent a notice for the recovery of income tax of 2014 as it has sent the notice worth of Rs 6,629,837 on May 2019. He further stated in his plea that the inland revenue has issued a stay order on the condition of paying five per cent while another plea still in pending in tribunal over the wrong recovery notice. The petitioner requested the court to order the commissioner to decide his case as soon as possible and the court should issue stay order till the decision by the tribunal.
