LAHORE: The Chairman of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Dr Tahirul Qadri has announced a six-member committee of overseas Pakistanis that will look after the Model Town case in international forums. The committee will be headed by Khalid Mehmood and Dawood Mashadi from UK, and comprises Faisal Mirza and Tasneem Sadiq from the Netherlands and Azhar Sadiq and Mohammed Azeem from France. He made this announcement during his address to the core committee members of his party in Holland, France and Lahore via video link. He also announced that the committee would give the final draft after consultation with the British law firm employed for this purpose. The issue will be raised at several international forums including the International Criminal Court and United Nations and other human rights organizations. The PAT Chief said that the Nawaz government is about to bring another amnesty scheme to cover up its crimes of money laundering, tax evasion and other illegal activities it has been involved in. The PAT chief said that all the promises made by the present rulers have proven false and not one has been fulfilled. Qadri said that the Nawaz government’s amnesty schemes are not eliminating corruption but rather promoting it. He said the national exchequer would benefit less and the rulers and their supporters would gain maximum benefit from this new scheme. He said all the earlier amnesty schemes introduced by the previous governments have proven to be added burdens on the shoulders of the people of the country, and this would prove to be no different. He said the common man was reeling under the pressure of trying to make ends meet, but the government had failed to provide any sort of relief to the poor man on electricity and gas bills. Even basic necessities were unaffordable for the average Pakistani now, Qadri said, adding that Pakistan had recorded a decline of 53 per cent in domestic investment while the rich are busy in shifting their money abroad. He wondered how on earth any foreigner would come and invest in Pakistan under such circumstances.
