The English Literary Society held a special session at Alhamra Adbi Baithak, Alhamra Art Center, Mall Road, Lahore. The topics were ‘Nobel Prize Winners in Literature in 2018 & 2019’, ‘International Human Solidarity Day (Kashmiri Literature and Solution)’, ‘Lahore Declared City of Literature by UNESCO Creative Cities Network’. Focal person of Lahore City of Literature Amna Ali presented the objectives of UNESCO and of the city government highlighting their features and how to achieve them to establish peace, human understanding and human relationship between writers and readers. to make world a better place. Dr Kanwal Feroze, Prof Anwar ul Haq, Rubia Jilani, Dr Abrar Ahmad, Sheraj Altaf, Mumtaz Rashid, Raza Naeem, Tasneem Tassadaq, Nazar Bhinder, Javaid Aftab, Ejaz Feroze Ejaz and others said Olga Tokarcuk fiction writer had been awarded the Noble Prize for her magical realistic writings expressed more in classical style. They said controversial poet, fiction screen and drama writer Peter Handke was presented the Nobel Prize for his narrative fiction, black comedy and for inventing a technique relating to linguistics for understanding human experiences. The writers have appealed to provide financial help to Kashmirs from International Solidarity Fund which is given for natural and manmade disasters to poor countries. They lauded the decision of UNESCO for making Lahore the ‘City of Literature’ for promotion of literary, innovative and global trends to disseminate oriental literature and heritage with cultural mobility across the globe.
