Food market is not the only saturated market in Lahore. Following suit is that of beauty. After all, Lahoris just don’t like to eat good, but want to look good too while eating good. International salon chains are mostly preferred by men and women such as Toni & Guy, Dessange, Rene Aesthetic Spa, Shumaila’s Beauty London etc. However, these can come across quite expensive sometimes and that’s when people throng the local businesses. Of late, there has been a whopping surge in the number of salons, spas, beauty clinics, massage centres and parlours across the city and following suit is Maison D’Argan. I tried out the salon and spa and here’s what I think about it. STRENGTHS – Maison D’Argan meaning Home of Argan is the first Moroccan spa of Pakistan. Keeping that in mind, it pays special emphasis on providing the client a complete Moroccan experience that reflects in the crockery in which it serves its green tea, the décor and interior and of course, the use of argon oil in nearly all its services. The hammam is another Moroccan specialty of the spa and by what they claim is, “The ultimate luxury experience.” Moroccan spas are known for their relaxing hammams, traditional steam baths, as well as for their original and local blends of traditional and unique products. I tried out the salon and spa and here’s what I think about it Another thing that strikes one’s fancy is the very warm and welcoming staff the spa has. Most of the staff is well-trained, highly professional and know what they are doing. All you have to do is go, put your bag down, tell them what services you require, and let them take care of you. If something isn’t right for you, they’ll tell you and I feel, this is what salons and spas need to do. They need to educate and advise the client on what would suit them and what wouldn’t and then let the person decide. Same is the case with Maison d’Argan. I went looking for a face polisher and I was told how harmful it can be for one’s face and skin, something no other salon had ever told me about. I like how it’s catering to the market of Phase 6, DHA, being nestled there considering there aren’t many salons there and one has to drive all the way to Phase 5 or 4, to get their things done. Yes, it’s competing with the likes of Toni & Guy, but then Maison d’Argan holds its own. My personal favourite services at the spa were the facials, the manicure and pedicure and the blowdries. WEAKNESSES — I wouldn’t speak very highly of its wax services and I feel they need to urgently improve upon that department.
