KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday extended the pre-arrest bail till November 03 the granted to former Sindh IG Ghulam Haider Jamali in connection with two inquiries being conducted by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into alleged embezzlement and misappropriation of police funds. Headed by Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, a division bench gave the NAB more time to investigate the matter and submit a written reply by November 03. At the outset, Jamali submitted that he was cooperating with the investigating agency. He was apprehensive about his arrest at the hands of the NAB and requested the court to restrain it from arresting him. The NAB counsel said the matter is under investigation; therefore he needed time to submit the report. The NAB is currently carrying out two inquiries against the former provincial police chief and others for allegedly misappropriating the police funds. The Supreme Court had taken notice of corruption in the police force, particularly in its investigation funds, and referred the matter to the NAB for further investigation. Earlier, the High court had granted pre-arrest bail to Jamali against a surety of Rs one million.
