Spanning three days at Fatima Jinnah Park, Islamabad Eat 2019 indeed had residents of the capital spoilt for choice over what to have and what to leave out, but we still sniffed out five of the best food items the coveted and the highly prestigious food festival had on offer. Read on to find out if you agree with us. BURGERS, ETC — we were looking for a juicy meal, which would consist of a moist bun, a rich patty, lots of clean veggies and sauce, complete with fries and a drink. Indeed, many big names attracted us, but it was really Burgers Etc, that for some reason caught our attention. We headed over and asked them the price of a chicken cheese burger meal and we were told Rs 400. We dished out the money and patiently waited to be served fresh from the stove. The burger was so delicious that we finished our meal within a few minutes. Job well done, guys! FRAIS SNOW CONES — this stall caught our attention during Lahore Eat 2019 as well. We liked how it had a very noticeable colour theme and one couldn’t miss it. So we tried out their drinks which we thought were by far the most refreshing, flavourful and affordable ones we got our hands on. These instantly helped us kickstart our day with a fresh and sound mind. The flavours we tried were Limca cola, blueberry (we had these twice) and of course black currant. POPCYCLE — the milky bars or shall we say pops, at Popcycle were so delicious, we found ourselves queuing up outside their stall all three days. We tried their Belgian chocolate flavour and most people were seen holding colourful renditions of icy bars of theirs. Affordable, delicious and milky! Their claim was that the colourful ones were prepared with 100 percent real and pure fruit and we believe them. REWAYAT — what to say about Rewayat! On Sunday, which was the concluding day of ISB Eat 2019, the queue outside their stall was so long, we bribed many to get ahead. They were offering deals, ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 400, which had malai boti, beef tikka, seekh kebabas, puris and what not! Just writing about their food makes us salivate. Their food never once compromised on quality regardless of the increasing demand. Let us mention their imli (tamarind) chutney which added to the overall flavour of their items. All their food items were traditional Pakistani. SOUTHERN CRUST PIZZA — similar to how we discovered Burgers, Etc, Southern Crust Pizza was another accidental discovery by us. Putting big names to shame, their pizza came in a variety of different flavours, tasted outclass and we could tell the ingredients were fresh and authentic, the moment the pizza touched our lips.
