ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Tuesday that he expected the probe into Panamagate issue to take a long time. He was talking to a TV channel. Earlier, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had said that its November 2 lockdown would instead be marked as a day of thanksgiving in Islamabad. The announcement came after the Supreme Court announced the formation of a judicial commission to probe the allegations against the Sharif family in the Panama Papers. “I feel as if everything has vanished. I have no right to comment on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s decision, as it is Imran Khan’s right to decide this. However, the nation will remember this for a long time,” he said. “The government has always been in the process of playing with every institution. The current chief justice will retire this month. The new chief justice will pursue [the issue] with his own mechanism and it will take a long time,” he said. He said that a lot of things about the commission were yet to be finalised. “It can also take upto two years to complete,” he said. The PAT leader said that political parties had failed to agree on terms of reference (ToRs) in seven months. “How will these parties agree on ToRs now?” he questioned.
