A model court in Multan in its verdict in social media star Qandeel Baloch murder case handed life imprisonment to prime suspect Wasim, brother of the slain, on Friday. However, the court acquitted other suspects including Mufti Qavi, Aslam Shaheen, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Basit and Zafar Hussain. The detailed verdict issued by court stated that the prosecution remained successful in proving its case beyond shadow of reasonable doubt and convinced the court with evidence against the accused for committing a wilful murder of his sister Fauzia Amin AKA Qandeel Baloch. “He is held guilty of committing wilful murder of his sister,” the verdict added. As per the verdict, accused Wasim will be sent to Central Prison Multan where he will complete the term of his punishment. As Mufti Qavi was acquitted by the court, a large number of his supporters gathered outside the court and showered rose petals on Mufti Qavi. Earlier Police had named Mufti Qavi as a main suspect on the request of Qandeel Baloch’s father. As the controversial pictures of the slain model with Mufti Qavi gone viral on social media, he was removed from Ruet-e-Hilal committee as well as from the National Ulema Mashaikh Council. Wasim’s lawyer told reporters that they will be challenging the verdict in the high court.
