The funeral prayer of Pakistan Army soldiers who were martyred in Chilas road accident was offered at Chaklala Garrison on Monday. In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, senior serving and retired officers, soldiers and relatives of deceased attended the funeral prayer. Earlier, the funeral prayers of the victims of Babusar bus incident were offered in Helipad Ground, Gilgit, on Monday morning. Governor Raja Jalal Hussain, Chief Minister Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Speaker Fida Nashad, Force Commander Northern Area Maj Gen Ehsan Mehmood Khan and other military and civil officials attended the funeral prayers. According to the Inter-Service Public Relations, nine bodies of army personnel who were martyred in the tragic bus incident were dispatched to Islamabad by C-130 and 16 civilians to Skardu through Pak Army helicopters. At least 27 people, including 10 army soldiers, died in a road accident in Babusar Top area. The bus carrying 37 passengers was enroute to Rawalpindi from Skardu when the mishap took place. The security personnel and teams had arrived at the spot and launched rescue activities while the injured were immediately admitted to the Chilas hospital. According to police, the incident took place when the ill-fated bus going from Skardu to Rawalpindi crashed into a mountain while making a sharp turn. Gilgit-Baltistan is a mountainous region that is home to some of the world s highest peaks. The main ranges are the Karakoram and the western Himalayas.
