LAHORE: Massive transfers and postings within the Police Department have become a blessing in disguise for criminals, as new police officials are so far unable to control surge in street crimes, it has been reported. Reportedly, there are around 1,000 incidents of robbery, mobile phone and handbags snatching, cars and motorcycles theft every month across the city. Despite massive reshuffling in Punjab Police, criminals and robbers have taken over the control of provincial metropolis and they are depriving citizens of their precious belongings while beating or even killing those who try to resist their moves. The data obtained from the Police Department has revealed that there is incidents of street crimes is increasing day by day in the provincial capital as new police officers are finding it hard to bring down the crime ratio. The Muhafiz police, Mujahid Police Force, Quick Response Force, Tiger Squad, PRU, Dolphin Force and so many other wings of police and law enforcement agencies remained no good for protecting any of the victims. The alarmingly higher number of crime cases has exposed the performance of law enforcers. Meanwhile, the City Investigation Wing claimed to have arrested 1,658 criminals of 654 different gangs and recovering more than Rs 600.6 million as well as other valuables from them. It said that 5,610 cases including murder, attempted murder, dacoity and robbery had been traced during first ten months of current year 2016, while 4,475 proclaimed offenders were also arrested in the same period. According to a spokesperson on Thursday, on the direction of CCPO Captain (r) Amin Wains, DIG investigation Wing Chaudhry Sultan has directed the Investigation Wing police officers to utilise their energies to curb the crime in the city and arrest the criminals involved in differentunlawful activities. He said that during the current year, investigation wing police challaned 280 murder cases, three cases of kidnapping for ransom, 10 cases of dacoity and theft, 1,621 other crimes, 199 cases of vehicles snatching, 1,585 vehicles theft cases and 1,233 cases of burglary were also challaned insame period.
