ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would host a farewell dinner today (Thursday) in the honour of outgoing Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who is retiring on Nov 29. Sources said the PM would hold a one-on-one meeting with General Sharif to discuss the appointment of the new leader of the military. The army chief is to retire on November 29 after his three-year tenure. General Sharif has held farewell meetings with senior military officials ahead of his retirement. The Ministry of Defence has sent a summary to the prime minister for appointment of new military chief and Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC). The outgoing CJCSC, General Rashad Mahmood, who paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif yesterday, would retire from his service on the 27th of this month. The dossier carries names of four senior Lieutenant Generals, including Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Zubair Hayat, Commander-II Corps Multan Lt Gen Ishfaq Nadeem, Commander-XXXI Corps Bahawalpur Lt Gen Javaid Iqbal Ramday and Inspector General Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
