The joint opposition will observe a ‘black day’ today (Thursday) to mark the first anniversary of July 25, 2018 election when Imran Khan came into government for the first time. In Lahore, a large public gathering of the joint opposition will be held at Charing Cross, The Mall, in which PML-N president and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif will address the public along with other leaders of the opposition parties in the evening. PPP’s Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ch Manzoor, Aslam Gill, ANP’s Amir Haider Hoti, Ihsan Wayne, and Amir of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadees Senator Sajid Mir will also address along with the provincial leadership of the PML-N that will be hosting the event. Maryam Nawaz will participate in a rally in Quetta on the invitation of PKMAP Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai. A meeting of provincial heads of joint opposition parties was held in Model Town on Wednesday to overview the arrangements of the protest rally of Lahore. Talking to media after the meeting, former minister and MPA of PML-N Rana Mashhood said that we’ll hold the Jalsa at any cost despite all the hindrances being created by the government and our workers are desperately waiting to observe the ‘black day’ as the mandate of people was stolen the same day one years ago. He was of the view that the government is trying to suppress the opposition by using dictatorial tactics as it tried to disrupt the rallies of Maryam Nawaz in Mandi Bahaudin and Faisalabad and the government itself will be responsible if our today’s protest rally was disrupted in Lahore. He further added that Imran Khan has been proved as civil dictator and he got arrested the opposition leaders only to divert the focus from original issues. “The music concert of Imran Khan is telecasted on all the channels but the rally of Maryam Nawaz isn’t allowed to be shown on TV screen,” he said, while adding that it is dictatorship and not a democratic setup.
