KARACHI: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Monday that the corrupt society has been strengthening the corrupt leaders, meaning that there will be no general election in 2018 but a mere ‘selection’. “Whenever the time of departure of any government nears, it starts attacking the freedom of speech,” Qadri said. He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was playing games with the nation as the PM and his family members had violated the People’s Representation Act 1976 by brushing facts of their offshore companies under the rug. The PAT chairman said that Pakistan’s markets, hospitals, courts, schools, mosques and streets were being targeted by militants but the rulers were busy protecting their own businesses and power. He went on and said that the deteriorating law and order situation of Karachi had its impact on his party’s organisation in the metropolis but ‘now things are quite better than before and the PAT will hold a big public gathering at Bagh-e-Jinnah to show its power’.
