SHIKARPUR: At least 33 persons most of the children aged between two years to seven years and women fell unconscious after eating gram (daal) purchased by a local gram seller at Juneja Mohalla in the limits of Lakhi Ghulam Shah Police Station, some 15 kilometers off from here, on Sunday morning. Ali Baig Bijarani, the SHO Lakhi Ghulam Shah Police station in a conversation with this scribe said that as many as 33 persons most of children and women named Naimat, Munwar, Amjad, Younis, Gohar, Zakir, Shafique, Rafique, Sharif, Gulsher, Dilsher, Abdullah, Fareed all of by caste Khosa, while Noshad, Karina, Anjali, Bhagwan, Aarti, Bhartti, Kirshan belonging to Bheel community and Farhana Junejo, Aafia baby, Gulnaz baby, Tahira baby, Nadia, Shaiza, Arbab Ali, Nadeem Ahmed, Dilwar, Naveed Ahmed, Shahzaib, Farhan Ali and others fell unconscious and they instantly transported to Lakhi Ghulam Shah Tehsil Hospital, Wazirabad Hospital and private hospitals of Lakhi Ghulam Shah for medical treatment. Area police arrested gram [cholay] seller namely Gulzar Ahmed, of 40, by caste Kumbhar from Lakhi Ghulam Shah and registered a case [42/2017] against him under section 269, 270, 273 [PPC] on the behalf of state, on the complaint of Assistant Sub Inspector [ASI] Shahmeer Abro, and initiated an inquiry against him, SHO concluded. The Medical Superintendent [MS] THQ Lakhi Ghulam Shah, Dr Fareed Ahmed Abro informed this correspondent that due to food poison the condition of the admitted persons has deteriorated and instantly they were admitted to hospital. However, the condition of the admitted patients was reported as out of danger, but paramedical staff and patients faced hardships due to unannounced load shedding and tripping, Dr Fareed said.
