Singer and actress Meesha Shafi’s younger brother, Faris Shafi, is the latest to withdraw from the upcoming Lux Style Awards (LSA) 2019. The rapper’s song, “Clap”, featuring Talal Qureshi had been nominated for the year’s Best Song. On Twitter, he requested the LSA to remove his track from the category, “@talalqureshi and I are neither attending, nor endorsing the awards. Thank you and good night.” The award show has been embroiled in controversy, as in the past few weeks, celebrities nominated for a win have dropped out, including model Eman Suleman, the brand Generation and Meesha Shafi. Those who have boycotted the show say they will not share the stage will an alleged sexual harasser. Unilever Pakistan, which hosts the awards show, defended its decision to let the show go on, stating, in a press release, that the “nominations for the LSAs are decided by an independent Jury of industry peers and critics”.
