Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is all set to go back to Kot Lakhpat jail as his six-week bail granted by the Supreme Court on medical grounds expires Tuesday (today). A large number of party leaders and workers including MNAs, MPAs and former representatives of local bodies will establish at least 10 camps on the route to prison from Jati Umra to Kot Lakhpat in order to show solidarity with their leader. A meeting of the PML-N was held at Model Town on Monday to review arrangements for Nawaz Sharif’s convoy to jail. As per details, Nawaz Sharif will leave Jati Umra after iftar in a convoy comprising PML-N leaders and workers and will reach Kot Lakhpat jail by passing through Adda Plot and Ring Road. He will visit the graves of his father and wife before leaving Jati Umra. On Sunday, the former prime minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) in Lahore to pay homage to the Sufi saint. Nawaz Sharif held an informal meeting with his legal team on Monday in which Maryam Nawaz was also present. Nawaz’s personal physician Dr Adnan also examined him at Jati Umra. “A large number of PML-N workers will reach Kot Lakhpat jail after Maghrib prayers to show solidarity with their leader who still rules their hearts,” said PML-N Lahore’s General Secretary and MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir. He said the workers of PML-N had shown their respect and love for Mian Sahib when he was granted the six-week bail as a large number of workers had accompanied him at that time from Kot Lakhpat jail to Jati Umra. Nawaz Sharif was granted bail by the Supreme Court on March 26 in Al-Azizia Steel Mill case on medical grounds with a condition that he will not leave the country. His petition seeking an extension in the bail was turned down by the apex court the other day. “All roads will lead to Kot Lakhpat Jail today to show solidarity with Nawaz Sharif as some decisions are given by the courts while some are given by the history,” said PML-N Punjab Information Secretary MPA Azma Zahid Bukhari. “It is the dignity of the leader who is going to surrender himself once again before the law. All those people are at mistake who think that his politics is finished,” she said, adding that Nawaz Sharif is the centre of Pakistan’s politics. ‘The Prison of Democracy’ remained one of the top trends on twitter throughout the day on Monday. The social media cell of the PML-N being reportedly run by the newly appointed vice president of the party Maryam Nawaz urged the workers to come to Kot Lakhpat jail to show solidarity with Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday.
