Maryam Nawaz, daughter of the former premier, Nawaz Sharif, on Wednesday, announced that her father’s medical tests would be completed by this week or early next week. In a series of tweets on social media, she claimed that relevant medical experts were being consulted to get a clearer picture of his health and the procedures needed afterwards. Maryam shared details of the medical tests that her father had undergone so far as well as those planned for this week. She tweeted, “Yesterday MNS [Mian Nawaz Sharif] had Echo & Ultrasound for Kidneys along with Doppler studies for Carotid Arteries & Peripheral Vessels. Substantial stenosis detected on Carotid Doppler Studies.” “Undergoing today MRI/MRA for Carotids (Arteries supplying blood to brain) & Renals to further investigate,” the former first daughter maintained. She further added “Will also have CT Scan for kidneys today. Earlier at Services Hospital it was diagnosed & documented that MNS has significant Carotid Artery Stenosis and Peripheral Arterial Disease, widespread thickening and narrowing of vessels.” The doctors had also recommended a backup pacemaker & ICD, Maryam said. ICD or Implantable Cardioverter-defibrillator is a life-saving device implanted in the body of those at risk of fatal cardiac arrhythmias.
