The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has delivered on a major poll pledge, re-appoints Board of Directors of all public sector companies under Ministry of Petroleum. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan expressed these views on Wednesday during a high level meeting at Petroleum Division. The Federal Cabinet, yesterday, approved the appointment of the country’s public sector companies working under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division. The appointments were made after applications were first invited by the Petroleum Division and the process of interviews was completed recently. The nominations to the Board of Directors have been made by following a strict process of transparency and merit. Ghulam Sarwar Khan added that eminent names from the industry have been elevated to top positions within these organizations. In a first in the country’s history, it has been ensured that all federating units receive equal representation in the Board of Directors. In a major development, the incumbent Government has ensured that women, too, are represented on all the respective Boards with Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Ex-Governor State Bank of Pakistan and a leading UN professional becoming the first woman in the country’s history to head the BOD of a major company, SSGCL.
