Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was taken to the Sharif Medical City Hospital on Thursday for an evaluation of his medical health to decide a future course for his treatment. He was accompanied by his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan. Blood samples of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader were drawn for tests before he departed the hospital for his Jati Umra residence. The three-time prime minister was released from Kot Lakhpat jail and he reached his residence in Lahore late Tuesday night, hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail for six weeks to receive medical treatment from a doctor of his choice within the country. Dr Khan said a team of experts has been put together for the former prime minister’s medical evaluation, however he did not disclose the names of the members. Maryam Nawaz, meanwhile, said recurrent angina and deterioration of renal function remains to be prime health concerns for her father. She said her father was taken to the Sharif Medical City Hospital where his preliminary clinical review was conducted. The former prime minister was examined by professors of cardiology, medicine, nephrology and urology, his daughter said in a tweet, adding that Nawaz Sharif has been advised rest by the doctors. She said her father’s renal and cardiac issues are more complicated and serious than what they already knew. “We shall know conclusively once we are through with the investigations and have the doctors’ recommendations before us,” she said. “Till then aggressive and continuous management is crucial,” she added.
