ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is preparing to challenge the findings of the Quetta Commission report in Supreme Court, media reported on Tuesday. Sources privy to the development informed media that the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had prepared its response to the Quetta Commission report about the Quetta Civil Hospital attack. The report has been sent to the interior minister who would submit it in the Supreme Court in the coming days. Sources informed that the interior minister was the petitioner in the case and would be represented by advocate Makhdoom Ali Khan in court. Moreover, an official of NACTA, on the condition of anonymity apprised media that top ministry officials had advised against the interior minister challenging the findings of Quetta Commission report in the Supreme Court. However, Nisar was determined on challenging the report and had requested NACTA to come up with strong arguments against the allegations leveled about the Interior Ministry and Chaudhry Nisar in the report. On August 8, 2016, a suicide bombing in Quetta’s Civil Hospital killed at least 74 people and left dozens injured. A judicial commission consisting of Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court was tasked to come up with a report on the matter. The subsequent report had criticised the interior minister for meeting with leaders of some banned organizations.
