An accountability court Islamabad on Monday adjourned the hearing of the reference regarding delay in Nandipur Power Project till April 09 due to absence of Accountability Judge Arshad Malik, who has been on leave to perform Umra in Saudi Arabia. The court had summoned former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, former law minister Babar Awan, Shahid Rafi and other accused in the case hearing. In the Monday’s hearing, the court had to record statement of a prosecution witness, Muhammad Naeem, an official of the Ministry of Power. Meanwhile The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday adjourned hearing of the bail petition of former chief traffic officer (CTO) of Lahore Rai Ijaz until April 09. A two-member bench of the high court headed by Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed heard the case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had arrested Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rai Ijaz Ahmad over corruption charges on November 30. The petitioner has made Chairman NAB and Director General NAB as parties in the plea. The petition claimed that Rai Ijaz has served the police department for several years with a spotless career. The petitioner has pleaded to the court for release on bail adding that the NAB has now completed its investigation in the case. The bench has summoned report from the handwriting expert of the forensic laboratory in the next hearing of the case. Rai Ijaz was arrested from Shahrahe Faisal area of Karachi and later handed over to a team of NAB Lahore.
