LAHORE: Sightseeing bus service is likely to cover two new routes from next week.In this connection, the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) has forwarded a summary to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for approval to ply double-decker bus service on two new routes – from Terminal-I Football Stadium to Wagah Border via Jallo Botanical Garden and second route to Greater Iqbal Park. Three new Volvo buses have been imported from China after customs clearance in this regard. The buses will be handed over to TDCP after road test and mechanical inspection from experts. Sitting capacity in each bus is 67. Special hired guides will brief tourists about historical background of Lahore, including historical sites that came on these routes. TDCP Managing Director (MD) Ahmer Malik said, “I hope the summary will be approved within a week and the buses will be ready to provide service to citizens from next week.” He said that each bus would be equipped with a music system to create interest among people about tourism. The MD said that more than 74,000 people had enjoyed the ride of the service, which started in November 2015. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had ordered to increase the number of buses.
