QUETTA: At least six Levies personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Sanjawi area of Ziarat district on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner Ziarat Qadir Bakhsh Parkani said the terrorists attacked and opened fire at the Levies checkpost in Lal Khatai near Sanjawi area of Ziarat. Consequently six on-duty Levies personnel namely Mehtab Uddin, Abdul Kaeem, Fakeer Ahmed, Muhammad Usman, Abdul Shakoor and Dad Muhammad died on the spot. Security forces reached the site of the attack on receiving information and shifted bodies to Civil Hospital Ziarat. Security forces have cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation to trace out the suspects. A few months back, six FC officials were martyred in an attack in Balochistan’s Kech district when their convoy came under heavy firing near the border with Iran. The province has been hit by a number of attacks on security personnel but the number of large-scale incidents has decreased significantly since 2016.
