Former foreign minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, warned on Saturday, that politics in the country would take a turn for violence if anything happened to the deposed prime minister, Nawaz Sharif. The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader told media sources here, “Nawaz Sharif has never insisted on going abroad for his treatment.” However, once released from prison on bail, he added, this course of treatment could be considered. Asif said that he had paid a visit to Nawaz at Kot Lakhpat jail along with his personal physician, Shehbaz Sharif, Hamza Shehbaz and Maryam Nawaz on Friday. Nawaz had declined to go to hospital despite their efforts to convince him, he maintained. With regard to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s intentions, the ex-minister lamented that despite being a three-time prime minister, Nawaz was not treated properly at Jinnah Hospital and Services Hospital, where he was shifted lately following the recommendations of a medical panel.
