Just a few days ago, actor Shehreyar Munwar’s engagement pictures were all over the internet. The couple looked absolutely stunning and happy on their engagement ceremony. Like many other celebrity couples, they too had to face the wrath of social media. People have a lot to say about another person’s appearance and celebrity wives often face a lot of hate and judgment on social media for their looks. Sadly, most of these comments are made by other women – who conveniently sit behind the screen of a fake profile- making derogatory comments on the appearance of another female. There are a large number of men that join in on the mean comments too, but it is heart breaking to see women downsize other women based on their skin color, features, body weight and personal choices. Just because there are no consequences to such behavior, it seems rather easy for people to speak however they want. Female celebrities and celebrity wives face a lot of judgment – as in the case of Fawad Khan’s wife – people make some very heartless comments without realiaing the impact their words may have on the person they are criticising. Zaid Ali, a famous Youtuber and comedian, went through a similar experience after posting his wedding pictures on Instragram. Zaid’s wife Yumna was criticised for her complexion Zaid Ali, a famous Youtuber and comedian, went through a similar experience after posting his wedding pictures on Instragram. Zaid’s wife Yumna was criticised for her complexion. It is understandable that people only make such comments out of jealousy and their own personal complexes. Yumna then posted her childhood picture on Instragram with a very thought provoking caption, where she talked about all the hateful judgment she received when she visited Pakistan in 1999. That was the first time ever in her life that someone called her fat, dark and ugly. People really need to be more responsible with their words and posts online because a few years from now, the internet will have a solution to cyber bullying. There are legal laws against cyber bullying, but this department needs to become even more efficient, so to deal with such mean trolls in a manner that teaches them a lesson. In 2018, Actor Feroz Khan got married. His bride Alizey looked absolutely beautiful, yet the ruthless-hate-parade continued. A lot of celebrities have taken a stand against this madness by making posts and vlogs addressing the haters. Looking at all these celebrity couples and their beautiful wives, it is easy to see how we live in a misogynist society. You can be as pretty as a doll and still have people picking on some flaws. When the celebrities choose to have surgeries done for the same reason, the haters then have a new excuse to call them “fake” and “artificial”. So, nothing can really make it stop, unless the deed is punished. Taimoor Salahuddin aka Mooro, an internet sensation, comedian & singer chose to shut down the haters by making a vlog on the issue. Some trolls tried to hail him for marrying a girl of color, but he nailed it with a brilliant answer to all the nonsense. Cyber bullying is an issue that yet needs to be solved. We can make people do terrible things to themselves over mean comments. There have been several cases of suicide over the years, where people decided to take their own life because they were unable to deal with the immense bullying over the internet. I wish we could make kindness a trend.
