LAHORE: Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has issued the last warning to officials of Iqbal Town police over their poor performance as the crime rate surges. He made these remarks during a meeting at Police Lines Qilla Gujjar Singh regarding the assessment of the crime ratio during the month of December on Thursday. Iqbal Town Division SP Operations Adil Memon, deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), stations house officers (SHOs), beat officers, duty officers and Mohafaz Squad personnel attended the meeting. The DIG reviews monthly performance of the Iqbal Town police and directed Iqbal Town Division SP Adil Memon to closely monitor the situation and submit a report to his office against those officers who show lack of responsibility and interest. ‘Despite facilitating all police stations, the progress is below the mark,” the DIG said and added that all police officers, including the DSP, will be penalised or transferred if their performance is not improved. “Iqbal Town Division SP Adil Memon must involve himself along with the DSPs and SHOs to chalk down a comprehensive patrolling plan and crackdown on criminal gangs.” He went on to say, “SHO who do not perform is of no use and the beat officer who only shows himself busy in book keeping will be otherwise sent for judicial duty. Only professional officers will remain deputed in police stations. We do not need dishonest officers at all.” The DIG reprimanded Iqbal Town SHO M Sarwar and issued a show cause notice to him over his failure in controlling street crimes, whereas Millat Park Duty Officer Farooq was suspended. Ghulshan Iqbal Station House Officer M Nafees was issued a show cause notice Muslim Town SHO Atif Imran was also reprimanded, while Muslim Town Circle DSP Adil Rasheed was instructed to increase efficiency and nab drug peddlers. Wahdat Colony SHO Babar Shouqat and Millat Park SHO Asad Mehmood Qureshi were also issued show cause notices. Meanwhile, Sanda SHO Hammad Akhtar and Ghulshan Ravi SHO Javed Siddque were instructed to keep control crime rate in their respective areas. Nawan Kot SHO Siddique and Shera Kot Additional SHO Nusrat Naagra were also directed to lessen crime rate crime in their area.
