Pakistan defeated India in the final to win the 19th Asian Junior Squash Championship which concluded at Pataya, Thailand on Sunday. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, who is also President of the Pakistan Squash Federation, congratulated the team on bringing laurels for the country. He admired the victory of Pakistan against archrivals. He also appreciated the untiring efforts of the coaching staff and the Pakistan Squash Federation to train the players with dedication. The final was a thrilling contest as both teams displayed superb game of squash. In the first match, Farhan Hashmi defeated Veer Chotrani 02-11, 11-9, 11-7, 5-11 and 11-9. Veer dominated his opponent from the very start of the match and won the first game. Farhan consolidated his grip on the match by winning second and third games. Veer came back in the match by winning the fourth game. However, the fifth and final game was won by Farhan earning him the title. The second match was easily won by Abbas Zeb beating Utrkash in straight sets with the score-line of 11-4, 11-2 and 11-6. Published in Daily Times, January 21st 2019.
