Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa in his first case as top judge of the country Friday rejected a plea by a man arrested for peddling drugs. Justice Khosa, who was sworn in as 26th chief justice of the country earlier in the day, rejected Noor Muhammad’s plea for a reduced sentence while hearing criminal cases at Court No 1. The court in its verdict said the witness in the case is a government official, who bears no ill-will to the offender. Noor had earlier been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison for possessing 1,200 kg of drugs. Published in Daily Times, January 19th 2019.
