Sixth seed Mohammad Hamza Ilyas shocked third seed Kamran Albert Masih in the Jubilee Insurance U-16 National Snooker Championship final at the Pakistan Sports Complex here on Tuesday. Hamza of Punjab comfortably won the match 87-26, 61-34, 61-39, 55-28 to clinch the national title. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kamran, who reached the final after registering an upset victory against top seed Umar Khan in the semi-final, could not put up any resistance against Hamza in the first-ever U-16 decider. Hamza has been playing in the national U18 circuit for the last three years and feels that one day he wants to represent Pakistan in the world professional circuit. Hamza is dreaming big and believes that only taking snooker seriously can get him to a professional circuit. He trains with former snooker stars Imran Shehzad and Farhan Mirza. He received Rs50,000 as the prize-money, while Kamran got Rs 25,000. Also, the semi-finalists bagged Rs15,000 each and the quarter-finalists pursed Rs5,000 each.
