The much propagated Pakistan Citizen Portal performance is not up to the mark and losing public trust for not entertaining public complaints. Lack of bureaucracy along with well and poor management is not only killing the spirit of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of providing relief at their door step but also triggering public concerns. Ahmed Khan, a resident of Rawalpindi, said, “I have filed a complaint regarding corruption in the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi on November 8, 2018 but did not receive any positive feedback yet.” Another citizen Malik Sheraz Raza while commenting on the progress of Pakistan Citizen Portal said, “I logged two complaints almost one month ago but did not receive any response yet.” To review the progress of Pakistan Citizen Portal, a meeting headed by commissioner Joudat Ayaz was held in his office. Deputy commissioners of Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum also attended the meeting through video link. During the meeting, Joudat Ayaz was informed that 6,738 complaints regarding different departments of Rawalpindi have been received, 48 percent of them which makes 3,243 are resolved. Similarly, 1,025 complaints were received in Attock, where 47 percent complaints are resolved while 537 complaints are still pending. Data shows that the performance of district administration of Chakwal is very poor as compared to other districts of Rawalpindi where only 20 percent complaints received on portal are resolved until date. A total of 852 complaints are received in Chakwal where only 178 of them are resolved. District administration of Jhelum is ahead of all with a 70 percent complaint resolving ratio. A total of 913 complaints are received regarding different departments of Jhelum out of which only 217 complaints are pending. Published in Daily Times, January 9th 2019.
