The Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed more than 7,200 quackery outlets during the last eight months. According to the spokesperson for the PHC, both the commission and district authorities had cumulatively inspected 29,533 treatment centres and sealed over 8,750 quacks’ businesses. The PHC teams sealed 947 quackery outlets in Lahore, followed by 554 in Faisalabad, 499 in Gujranwala, 482 in Sheikhupura and 422 in Kasur. Moreover, the commission had received over 3,700 de-sealing application. The PHC had also imposed a fine of over Rs 230 million on quacks. It is pertinent to mention here that since July 2015, the commission had closed down over 17,550 businesses of quacks in the province. Published in Daily Times, December 10th 2018.
