Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has said that accountability should be for all without any discrimination and it should be transparent. “The nation pays its hard-earned money as taxes and we cannot allow people to loot it,” the chief justice said in an interview with a private TV channel on Tuesday. He said a team had been constituted under the supervision of the State Bank governor to bring back looted money of Pakistan, which would submit its report in the next week. “We can get answers that how money has gone abroad and why there is a lack of mishandling in this regard. There is space for betterment in laws of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and for this purpose legislation could be made,” he said. He said that he was in contact with the NAB chairman to bring this into his notice, besides holding transparent investigation. “We are also thinking to establish a bench to keep an eye on use and expense of money on funds for dams.” The chief justice said the judiciary had taken so many steps to bring looted money back and the FIA, FBR, State Bank of Pakistan and Finance Division were doing investigation into the issue. The Chief Justice said that the experience of fund raising was excellent. Published in Daily Times, November 28th 2018.
