LAHORE: Following the recent reported terrorist threats across the province, city police have beefed up security arrangements at all exists and entry points of the city and at schools, colleges, universities and other important places of the city. According to a letter issued by the Home Department, “some terrorists from Afghanistan have entered Pakistan for carrying out terrorist attacks”. In this connection, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf has ordered all divisional SPs to tighten the security around all educational institutions and other important places to avoid any untoward incident. He directed all divisional SPs, DSPs, and SHOs to personally meet the administration and principals of schools, colleges, universities and others, and asked them to ensure security arrangements. He said that entry and exit points of the educational institutes should be minimised and permanent security and search and sweeping system should be ensured. He added that the heights of walls of the educational institutes should be raised up. He said that CCTV cameras must be installed at the educational institutes and the surroundings. The DIG directed all police officials to enhance patrolling in their respective areas. Dr Haider Ashraf also ordered divisional SPs to check all Afghan residential areas on a daily basis and start a search and sweeping system across the city. He added that flag march would be held in the city on a daily basis to create a sense of security among citizens.
