An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Peshawar and its adjoining areas in the wee hours of Wednesday, according to reports. The tremors were also felt in other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mingora and Swat. People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses from the Holy Quran. No loss of life and property was reported due to earthquake. According to National Seismic Monitoring Centre, Islamabad, the epicentre of the quake was Koh-e-Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan at the depth of 90 kilometres. On Sunday, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Khuzdar district and adjoining areas. The tremor struck Khuzdar and surrounding areas, forcing people to leave their houses and rush to open areas. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the intensity of the earthquake was recorded 4.8 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was located 180 kilometers southwest of Khuzdar.
